Jesus is the Light!
Did you know that children learn more in the first three years of their life (from ages 0-2) than they do at any other time? This means that these first years are important for laying a good foundation that you and others can build on the rest of their life. One of the most important things to teach from birth is who “Jesus Is”. If we teach our children who Jesus Is from a young age, they will have this ingrained in them as they grow and the seed you plant will flourish as they get older.
One thing we will be teaching your baby is that Jesus is The Light! Lights are fun for babies and toddlers, especially when they are old enough to turn them on and off themselves. Take the time this month to take your baby to a light switch and show them “on” and “off”. This teaches your baby what those words mean, shows them opposites, and provides a great opportunity for some dialogue about how Jesus is the light. Try something like this:
“Harper, can you turn the light off for mommy? Do you see how now it is dark and we can’t find your toys? When we don’t have Jesus in our lives, our life will feel dark and like we can’t see all the good things Jesus has for us. Let’s turn the light on now. Good job! Now that the light is on, we can find your books, your baby dolls, and your bed! Jesus is the light of our life. He helps us see the good things that God has planned for us. I’m so glad that Jesus is the light of mommy’s life!”
This is a simple way that you can teach your baby about Jesus being the light of our life!
