Preschoolers have already learned that they can talk to God anywhere, anytime, about anything. This is the age where it is time for them to learn more about prayer and become more specific in their prayers. Since their attention span is limited at this time, something visual can be helpful to develop their prayer time. Preschool kids can create a “prayer pail”. Here is what you'll need:
- A small bucket
- Crafting marterials
- Large craft sticks
Find a small pail at a craft store and let them help decorate it. Write the words “Pray” on it or find some sticker letters and put them on the pail.
Buy Large Craft sticks. Remind them that God wants them to pray for good things. Talk about what those good things are and give examples for them until they begin to understand what those good things are. Let them tell you who or what they want to pray for and then write them on the sticks. Take some time each day as a family to take turns picking a stick and praying for what it says! Simple activities like this one are great ways to begin to form a habit of prayer in your child.
