Color Me - Ask Forgiveness And Forgive!
The story Jesus spoke to Peter about forgiveness is a powerful one! It is found in Matthew 18. Our heavenly Father has forgiven us for so much. This act of love should motivate us to forgive others as well. Take some time to read this story to your kids while they color the coloring sheet. You can download the coloring sheet from this week here.
"One day, Jesus’ friend, Peter, asked how many times we should forgive someone. Peter wondered if it was only seven times. Let’s count to seven. 1…2…3…4…5…6…7! Jesus told Peter that we should never stop forgiving others. That’s when Jesus shared a story about a king and his servant.
The king decided it was time to gather all of the money that people owed him. One of his servants had borrowed 10,000 bags of gold. That's a lot of gold. There was no way the servant could pay it back.
The servant begged the king to forgive him. He acted very sorry, and the king decided the servant didn’t have to pay him back any gold. If you think the king was being nice to the servant, give me a thumbs up.
Guess what that servant did next. He found a man who owed him a little bit of money. He told the man to pay back his money. Pretend to look angry and growl. The man was sorry and asked for a little more time. Instead of forgiving the man, the servant tossed him into jail. Pretend to close the jail door and say, “Clank.”
The king found out what his servant had done. He was upset that he had forgiven the servant for owing lots of money, but the servant hadn’t forgiven the man for owing just a little bit. The king sent the servant to jail until he could pay back all of the money he owed.
Jesus wanted everyone to know how important it is to forgive others. Jesus said to ask God for forgiveness for any wrong choices we make and to forgive others when they do the same. Doing that helps us have a good friendship with God.
It’s not always easy to forgive, but we can ask God for help. I’m glad that God forgives me whenever I do wrong. Let’s say our Big Point, Ask Forgiveness And Forgive!"
