Color Me - Be Willing To Wait!
This week our Big Point is Be Willing To Wait! This is a great reminder during moments when it is hard to be patient. Below is the Big Story from this week. While your kids color the picture either on your mobile device or printed on paper, feel free to use that time to read the Bible story provided. This could be a fun way to reiterate the lesson they learned in church today. For instructions on how to download the coloring sheet and either print from your mobile device or color on the Pigment App, check out our post called "Color Me". "Today’s true story from the Bible is about some people whom Jesus told to wait. They were His friends and followers. Many of them had spent a long time with Jesus. They were excited because Jesus had promised to give them a gift from heaven.
Jesus told them they had to go back to Jerusalem and wait for the gift to arrive. They weren’t sure how long they were going to wait.
Thankfully, no one gave up waiting. Jesus’ friends prayed and talked to God. Whenever we’re waiting for something good, we can use the waiting time to pray, too. Jesus’ friends knew God would keep His promise.
Jesus’ friends waited for ten days. On the tenth day, the gift arrived. The gift was the Holy Spirit. He came to give them power to do the great things Jesus wanted them to do. The great news is that the Holy Spirit is a gift to us, too.
I’m glad Jesus’ friends waited for God’s gift. Without the Holy Spirit, it would have been hard for them to tell others about Jesus. Waiting is easier when we trust Jesus. We know that Jesus has great gifts for us. You might miss out on those good gifts if you get frustrated. You might miss them if you throw a temper tantrum. You might not get all of the good things if you say, “I quit.” I’m glad the Holy Spirit grows patience inside of us. Patience helps us wait for all of the good things that come from God. I know that you can follow our Big Point, Be Willing To Wait!"
